About the Bluffs at Fox Hill
The Bluffs at Fox Hill is a unique property. We are proud of our well designed residential buildings. In their natural
setting, surrounded by green lawns and pines, they are perched at the edge of what are the most handsome bluffs that overlook the waters of the Long Island Sound. We greatly enjoy our locale - right at the border of Long Island's North Shore, with its rich resources and the start of the North Fork, with its own particular beauties of wetlands, beaches, vineyards, farms and golden sunsets. We're proud not only of our physical surroundings but also of our friendly, diverse, and involved community of great people.
Area History
Our village of Baiting Hollow appears to have been settled in the mid 17th Century. It was part of the second "Aquebogue Dividend" and laid out in "60 pole lots" around 1660. The name "Baiting Hollow" is believed to have originated from an old usage of the word "bait." At one time that term meant to feed livestock and the Hollow Pond was often used by travelers to water their horses.
